Some of the email services blocks our emails at the time of receiving email verifications, and our system can’t send him an email. But to the new joiner our site displays that:
” Mail has been successfully sent.
You will receive it within a minute.”
New member is lost in that case I feel… And that profile gets listed in the admin panel for admin to activate. Admin is also not aware that the email verification was not successful. Cron job get generated at a later stage. I feel we might lose an important member by that reason.
I also tried to register with a faulty address, that time also same thing happened. It may not be practical to check cron jobs everytime for this reason. Once members come to know that faulty emails will also do then that will increase lot of span users I feel.
The sole purpose of email verification is lost here…!!!
Can we make some arrangement to let user know that we couldn’t send him an email for verification and so please enter some other email address to be able to login? Also list the profile in admin section only after email verification or list it separately saying email not verified.

What they could do is make it where users can login without the activation but it will keep bothering the user until they verify their email.
Hey Andrey there is no media compression for mp3 uploaded files. So it can be very difficult to host files for all the members, that to on a shared server, considering 5 to 6 MB average file size. Is it possible to play mp3s posted on some other site, by our mp3 player? Just add the mp3 URL to play the song. Is it possible? Where admin can decide number mp3s allowed to be uploaded and number of mp3 URLs allowed per member.
In that case either we can play files on some other server or have one server ourselves which is only dedicated for all such data storing. Just a thought. I am not a technician.
Also I think it would be better if we can store all the member’s data (photos, blogs, profile entries, mails, mp3s, videos, etc) on a single main directory, outside dolphin directory. I think this will help to maintain better security.
Email… as Tyler said, we can let one access, but keep bothering him. And we can extend email verification page to offer an email re-send to another address to get verified. Parsing email bounces is not practical and really difficult to implement.
MP3… there is compression, but for now the default bit-rate setting is high, but can be changed. We will put this setting into admin menu, so you will be able to control that. External MP3 links to be played from our player is not possible at the moment, but we will try to implement that. Uploading external MP3s should be easy to do.
All user data outside Dolphin… would love to know what added security it provides, and if it does, we would absolutely do that.
I like the extended verification options, hopefully this can be implemented into 6.1.

Letting one access the site and extending the verification would be better feel. If its not much of a problem ofcourse. Orkut does that I think and once you have a verified email it will not bother you again.
About keeping data outside dolphin, i raised that point because I observed many scripts following that with lot of stress. I don’t know the technicalities in it. They follow it by saying that it improves the security. I don’t remember all of the sites but below is one I could remember immediately. If you want I can post other dating script’s links also who says the same.
