Hi Andrey,
I am using IE 7 and Dolphin is well displayed. I tried to view dolphin using IE 6 on a friend’s pc and I noticed that IE 6 doesn’t display Dolphin very well.
When I look at my site stats I see that 36% of my visitors or members are using IE 6. This percentage warns all of us and calls back the need of having Dolphin well displayed with IE 6.
Below are some display problems I found with IE 6:
- Total number of votes of both Member Profile Rating and Member Photo Rating doesn’t show.
- On the home page / Member Bloc: “Online”, “Random”, “Latest” and “Top” tabs menu have completely disappeared.
- After logging in, on member.php, the “Member” bloc (Total Registered and Currently online) is badly displayed.
- On the home page, the link “next” of the Blog box (bloc) is displayed out the box. It is actually displayed at the bottom the page after the footer. It has created a BIG empty space on the page. The space has almost the size of a full web page. You have to scroll down the page and down and down again before reaching the link.
- Sometimes submenu links on the top tabs menu have to be clicked twice before getting any response or getting the page to start loading. It could be due to the fact that there are Ajax-based menus.
- On “show online member” (search_result.php?online_only=1), some members’ descriptions are badly displayed . They are superimposed upon the links; “IM user”, “View Profile”, “Greet”, “Contact” and “Get E-mail”.
Maybe, there are many other display issues with IE. The ones above are what I have found so far.

Make Meaning Or Die
Perhaps you could put a warning on your site…something like…”Best viewed with Internet Explorer 7″…might get some folks to upgrade.
@simplethings50
Sorry, but that is not a solution… Many people cannot upgrade to IE7 because that needs to have Windows XP service pack 2 or more recent (MediaCenter, Vista) as OS installed on the PC…
The statistic of Dotnet is the same like mine about IE6 users.
IE6 -> 34%
IE7 -> 48,5 %
Firefox -> 11,5 %
Opera -> 1%
Safari -> 0,7%
Netscape -> 0,4%
Other -> 3,9%
We are testing on IE6 and will keep supporting it until it is used by less than 2% of visitors. Thank you for report - we will fix all that ASAP.
Thank you Andrey
Of course you know that our visitors and users are not the same public like yours
I don’t ask for any support, just to say… I even have visitors who are using Windows98 with IE5 !!!
@MichelSwiss…I don’t offer that as a solution…I am not qualified to do that…I do know people who merely don’t upgrade because “it takes too long, etc.”…I said it MIGHT get SOME folks to upgrade…I am aware some can’t…some folks like myself can’t even get dsl because ATT doesn’t have enough servers in the area…all in due time
@simplethings50
Hope there is no problem with you because of my comment
My english is quite basic, it was nothing against you
No problems here MichelSwiss…oh wait!! I’m out of damned boonex pepsi…geesh
“Best viewed in Firefox”
there’s your solution.
lol blix01…works for me!!
@ simplethings50. As said by MichelSwiss to put something like…”Best viewed with Internet Explorer 7″ is not the right solution. Thank you MichelSwiss.
We can not select who must view the site. People are coming from everywhere. so let’s get dolphin well displayed with any Browser.
How come no one reports any bug with IE6 incompatibility? After user registration, nothing happens - user unable to log in.
I have tried to use an existing account (manual MD5 password using phpMyAdmin) via IE6. No go.
This is a major bug with Dolphin 6.0001 since most people are using IE.
