This issue has been reported several times in the forum but unfortunately Boonex did not provide any solution at all. We do not know whether it is a problem from the manufacturer or not.
The membership level doesn’t work fine. Action limitation doesn’t work for Standard membership.
No matter the restriction or actions allowed, standard members (FREE MEMBERSHIP) are still able to do ALMOST everything like premium members (PAID MEMBERSHIP). They can upload media, use photo, music and video gallery, create blogs, use forum, post classified ads etc.
Restrictions/Actions for Standard membership work fine with Ray products ONLY.
When a standard membership tries to use Ray Presence or Ray chat he/she gets this message:
“Your current membership (Standard) doesn’t allow you to _use Ray presence. ”
Or
“ Your current membership (Standard) doesn’t allow you to use Ray chat”
Important and Urgent. Many people are probably stuck with the same issue.
Please respond and help.
How can we apply action/access restrictions to the Standard membership?
Note: The Free mode is OFF.

Make Meaning Or Die
Yes, I have the same experience. For examaple. My non-members are not supposed to have access to photo galleries… but the do. And the solution (a non-solution) in the forumz was to use the MENU builder to limit the menu items to members only… well.. um… that SORT OF solves part of the problem, but doesn’t really solve the issue.
On the same topic. it would be REALLY nice if we could limit profiled viewd or searched to s certain quantity for NON-members. Right now, its either all or nothing.
Hello zmoos,
The solution you are talking about will not solve the problem because advanced and Premium members will be unable to use features that will be removed from the Menu Builder.
This is an emergency. It’s critical issue that needs a quick fix.
If a site is based upon Free and Paid memberships, this membership level misfunction is making Dolphin unusable.
I greatly hope Boonex team will understand that and provide a fix ASAP. Thx in advance.
Dotnet
Yes Dotnet,
I totally agree; it’s a NON-solution… It is not practical for a live site, with real traffic and services. It just didnt seem like anybody cares about this one.
But I agree, it IS a critical issue.
Yeah zmoos, you are right and it’s too sad. Boonex the manufacture is quite too. Well, maybe people do not care because few are those who are planning to use Dolphin for business, in other words who are seeing in dolphin a great opportunity to make money. I’ve noticed that over 80% of Boonex users are running free and personal sites. Most of them are not too serious with their websites and they are just doing it for fun. It isn’t bad but IMHO Dolphin should completely meet both personal and business needs.
Now let’s cross fingers and wait a little bit more to hear (read) from Boonex.
Dotnet
Yeah, most sites have just a few members, and don’t even have enough use to find out if features work or not…. a lot of hobbyists I guess.
@Dotnet and @zmoos
Agreed. We have added the ticket for the .0004 patch to fix (improve) these issues.
You can find it here.
These are first steps which will be taken care of in order to improve “Membership Levels” functionality.
Your comments and feedback are welcome.
Hello dear Victor,
Thanks very much your reply and for openning a ticket.
I followed the link you posted here and I saw you mentionned access restrictions to photo, music and video only.
The fact is the following restrictions do work for standard Membership:
can add_delete classifieds
get other members’ emails
make search
rate photos
send greetings
send messages
use Blog
use chat
use forum
use gallery
use guestbook
use instant messenger
use Ray chat
use Ray instant messenger
use Ray mp3 player
use Ray presence
use Ray video player
use Ray video recorder
view other members’ Blog
view other members’ galleries
view other members’ guestbooks
view photos
view profiles
vote
Please, would you like to update the ticket and add the actions above?
Thanks for helping.
Dotnet
BTW, about .0004 patch, any expected date of release?
This membership level misfunction is killing my site and it’s making me sick.
Thx.
Dotnet
