2007 Summary
What a year! 2007 is the most lucrative, hard, rewarding and exciting year we ever had. BoonEx changed dramatically in 2007. It feels like we went through 10 years in one month - so much happened and changed so fast.
Dolphin 6 and Ray 3 were released with great success; BoonEx Unity, BoonEx ID and BoonExpress Apps were born; BoonEx Blog opened our eyes and created a new eco-system of extremely helpful and supportive people; Shark started breathing in a form of 4ppl, Expertzzz, Unity and now LoveLandia; Expertzzz became a busy anthill; BoonEx incorporated in Australia; Ray became free; affiliate program launched; Orca has been updated; BMS deployed; BoonEx DevZone and BoonEx.us community launched and became popular; a new boonEx non-stop working record set; All BoonEx sites were redesigned; payments system and pricing updated; trading currency changed; BoonEx servers were upgraded to a 10x combined performance increase; BoonEx traffic soared to a highest levels beating all our competitors with a wide margin; we were featured at Techcrunch and Mashable; BoonEx Blog had over 2000(!) posts and over 15000(!!!) comments… and finally, I am confident enough to say - we became #1 community software experts!
So, how’s that for one year!?! I say - UNBELIEVABLE!
But hey, it’s also a huge challenge. The pace we set created greater expectations, higher demands and showed us new horizons. All for the year 2008.
2008 Plans
BoonEx is entering the 2008 stronger than ever and the plan is on the table. If BoonEx is under your radar for the next year - watch for the following:
Dolphin 6.1 (March) and 6.2 (September) with huge sets of new features and improvements.
Ray 3.1 (January), and most importantly, Ray 3.5 (March). 3.5 is planned to incorporate almost all features suggested to date, 2 new widgets, complete layout remake and performance boost plus added support of FMS and Wowza.
Orca 2.0 (March) - this release is aimed to set Orca on-par with more sophisticated contenders in terms of functionality, while preserving Orca’s key advantages.
Barracuda 3.0 (September) - neglected for quite a while the toothy fish will finally come out of the shadows, with a surprising new face.
Shark 2.0 (September) - yes, September still feels like it’s ages away, but it’s Shark and the due date is finally there. Once again it’s Shark, no games here, Shark.
BoonEx Blog will be integrated into Unity, and DevZone will be merged into Boonex.com. All BoonEx sites will accept BoonEx ID as a unified login system (January). Unity will have a new system for quality-assurance team of volunteers.
Unity is to come up with a few top-secret (for now) announcements in June.
BoonExpress Apps will come out of beta with an array of improvements (June).
Expertzzz will come out of beta and will get new features for even better community integration.
We plan to get more aggressive in terms of advertising and recruitment, so expect a more dynamic growth.
And finally, 2008 is the year of complete overhaul of our support services and correspondence standards. We are on the way for more customers, but we want to be on the way for more HAPPY customers.
The BoonEx team is ready and looking forward to 2008 and we welcome you to be with us.
100000 Downloads!
We just passed the 100K mark! That’s over one hundred thousand downloads of BoonEx software, and we’re counting from the day of Dolphin 6 release only. Expertzzz.com is about to pass the 300K!!!! mark. And the spread is accelerating! By the end of the year we’ll have over 10000 BoonEx ID’s registered and over 1000 communities listed in Unity. Isn’t that exciting?!

Anyway there clearly has been a great deal of hard work and strategy that has taken place by all the hard working Boonex employees as well as all of its community supporters. While I know I can be a bit of a driver and pain sometimes my goal is always to see that everyone reaches their full potential including myself and that means sometimes reaching areas you may or may not understand based on our individual vantage points.
However, I will also add this. If one looks at the Boonex products and fairly compares what this group is doing for the good of humanity compared to other products available there simply is no comparison!
Keep up the good work and more importantly always remember this last part! Never get to comfortable or to complicated. It is all about balance.

Wow! What a year this has been! I came onboard as a user last year(06)….mainly just to personally test the software. My how this has grown. I have been able to watch the growth and the growing pains. I admire the entire team for all they have made possible! My hosting service is yet to get off the ground, but once it does….BoonEx products will be recomended for all their content management needs! I know I know… it is not just content management! You have to think in laymans terms though when dealing with the public, and as a webhosting provider i deal with them every day.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Hope you guys come back refreshed and ready to clear out some of the unanswered posts on the expertzz.com forum. I specifically have asked questions that just go ignored. I think a lot more people would use this software if they could get support on getting the free app running, that would certainly entice them to purchase the adfree. I have seen where at least two purchasers are in the forum complaining that they have spent a couple thousand dollars each, and cant get support on what they purchased.
You guys certainly have a nice program, but to set it out there deemed as free, but not offer any support, basically makes the application worthless. YOu would have way more communities if you were providing better support, and i am not talking about having them join the contributors section of your site. MrPowless should be compensated for the amount of support he gives in the forum. I know he works really hard to help people out on the forum. I need somebody to contact me regarding the orca forum and getting to to work. mrpowless has helped out as much as he can, and we have gotten nowhere.

happy holidays. just installed 6.0003 and now that I’ve debugged it, I’m happy to say my site rocks. (See my posts as meetup in the Expertzzz Forumz for some tips on getting 6.0003 working)
Any idea of getting a general feed for the site, all blogs, all news, all articles, etc, not just forum posts?
My main problems now:
When users save changes to their profile, they need to reenter their password or else the old one is md5ed again and becomes useless
2) RSS feeds outside of orca don’t seem to work. So, my index.php my groups.php etc. pages I’ve had to remove the RSS, in the case of groups.php I actually hardcoded a link to the forum since it was losing the db connection to load the forum activity summary.
But again, otherwise very happy with it.
Idea: Can we display the birth day and month but not year?

I have been searching for months (probably nearly years) for a community app that does what Dolphin does. I have installed and deleted probably at least 15+ mediocre apps, many award-winning CMS even, and none of them had the features or ease of use that Dolphin does. Luckily I found a site that was similar to what I want to do - that had a link to BoonEx!!!

Okay, I guess I can take a hint… I was just thinking the other day that I should write you all and let you know how thrilled I am with the BoonEx package - but was going to wait until after the holidays. Then I get this email inviting me to do it now, so here I are! [grin]
Everyone that has become a member over on www.focusedandfree.org has told me how excellent the site is and how much they like all the features. I am extremely happy with the program, too. It was easy to install, easy to configure, and has all the right features - right out of the box!
And the best part? I was worried I would not be able to use the software because of the content of ads. But the ads are very acceptable, nothing naughty, so I don’t have to worry about where I’m going to get the money to eliminate the ads! In fact, I am proud to have the ads, as the support the BoonEx community.
So all I can say is, thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!
I love your product and am so grateful for all your hard work. The product is top notch and so is the support (what little I’ve needed). Keep up the great work!

I’m sure 2008 will be an even greater year for Boonex and the community itself. I know I’m looking forward to participating more in the community as I launched my first Dolphin site two weeks ago.
I’ve been getting nothing but positive feedback from my users. And it’s all due to Boonex. I never could have built such a complex site in such a short time with out all the hard work that went into Dolphin and it’s modules. And being a noob programmer, I can appreciate all the long hours of coding that went into it. And all for free. Amazing. A simple thanks isn’t enough.
I’ve been impressed with how easy it is to configure Dolphin via the admin panel. The ajax interface for the builders is very nice. And it looks nice, as opposed to other admin panels that seem to be tossed together.
And the community & forums have been very useful as well. The few times I had a question about how to do something, there was already a thread or post about it. So I was able to solve my problem within a few minutes. Very cool.
So in closing, thank you Boonex and the community for a great program and a friendly *and* useful resource.

I spent the better half of 2007 trying to figure out which CMS or social software I wanted to use and which hair-brain idea I wanted to design out into a website. In the process I found out I could not design a website! Fortunately, Dolphin has made that a bit easier. My wishes for 2008? More user contributed free templates (I am learning… look for mine soon) and how about releasing some of those awesome graphics from the site?
All you have to do is look at what you have accomplished in the last year and I really don’t need to say much more. You guys are absolutely amazing. Your software and interface absolutely rocks and there is nothing like what you guys do! So seriously pat yourselves on the back as much as you want because you deserve it. I am excited to se what you do in 2008 and I know we will continue to work with you for years to come. Thanks so much for all your work. Its been a great experience collaborating with ya all all over the world…I mean really just think about it…without the net this would never have been possible….and here are people getting together….and doing the motto of Boonex…make meaning or die…well we made meaning…of lots of script for ppl all over the world to come together and learn the world is full of people who are from all types of backgrounds who can make something that makes everyone who is here come closer to realize we are all interconnected…now literally all over the globe…so lets take this time of year to spread that meaning to as many sites as we can….so we can all have a better world for ourselves and all those who come after us and see the benefits from all this work…the software was supposed to make communities unite people…but those of us who were here and worked on it understand first hand that it united all who were working on the software and the bugs and feedback and suggestions…and untied us all with one of the first world wide collaborations of this kind…perhaps one day it will be recognized as some type of historical Web 2 milestone as it really is…and transformed my outlook on the future of things at home and around the world…make meaning or die…we live!

I really appreciated all the work to BoonEx team puts in to Dolphin, Ray and Orca. I look forward to helping BoonEx and others new to this fantastic Community Building software in the new year.
To those that are new to this product: it has stretched my talents as a graphic artist and web developer. I have learned things about PHP, CSS, and esoteric design that I never thought I would. It has peaked my interest and principally because BoonEx gives us the tool but leaves us to figure out how to best use or employ it.
That said, thank you again, BoonEx developers. I can’t wait to see what you cook up in the new year.

I am new to Dolphin and Boonex apps in general, but when I first saw Dolphin I spent a while at the site, going wow, I knew this is what I had been looking for so I bought the Smart Pro Pack. I will be spending a lot of time over the coming months tweaking it to suit the needs of our community.
