in Orca.
I have tested Orca again. Here are some more points in addition to my last post: http://www.boonex.org/2007/11/09/orca-problems-and-suggestions/
Hope that we will see some improvements in near future.
- Currently only the administrator can manage the forum and delete posts. Would make it much more easier if also the moderators can do this if the have the rights therefore. Perhaps it is also possible to give normal members the rights to get an moderator of the forum. (in the same way like a group creator can manage his group forum)
- Currently in the Forum a user can edit all his posts all the time. In the most common board systems that is only possible if the post is not followed by any other or for a defined time period after the post has been published. Would be nice to integrate it within orca.
- In the group forums every member can “delete” all his posts at any time additionally to the edit-function. What is the idea behind that? In the classic forum that is not possible. (for the edit function in group forums the same I have written before)
- The final point targets on the usability for forum users. Is it possible to reduce the functions of the current WYSIWYG-editor. I think for a standard user it is difficult to find the right functions. e.g. to include a picture in a post the user has to define several settings and parameters before he can do that.
Hope to get some additional inputs from other testers and users!

Here are some points to make Orca a better board system. Hope that other users and testers will post their problems and suggestions. Would be fine if the biggest problems will get solved as soon as possible by BoonEx. I think a the forum (also as a part of groups) is very essential for an successful community and should work well.
- If the admin sets the “forum type” to “private” in the “manage forum” section nobody (enclosed himself) can access to that forum later.
- The “report this post” function is deactivated if I am goint to rate a post. So I cannot report a post if I already rated it.
- If an user reports a post what happens? Haven’t found any function where the admin can “reset” a post after an user reported it. Otherwise it doesn’t make much sense if I cannot see which user has reported a post. So if somebody wants to sabotage my bourd, he clicks through all posts.
- The rating function is funny is funny but it doesn’t work really well. If I am rating a post negative it is hidden for me all the time but not for other users. (the same if I report it) I am not sure if it make sense to hide a post if there is only one negative rating. (at YouTube it has to be much more)
- If there is s short text in a post the user picture (or name) sometimes overlap the next post.
Hope for some more points from the whole Orca/Dolphin community…
Think that the profile comments are really essential for a perfect community. So i have some suggestions for you:
- Would be fine, if we can see the newest comment at the beginning of the profile-box (like myspace)
- Furthermore it would be nice if we can see the exactly posting date (and time). Think it would be better than e.g. 68 days ago
-What happen when there is a big number of comments on a profile. Would be fine that users can switch to all comments or to the next page (also like myspace)
If there are some other meanings on this topic, I am looking forward to discuss it in the comment area of this posting.
Have seen that people are posting bugs in different ways.
Some do it here in the blog, some at the test system at boonex.us, some in the forums at expertzzz.com…
Where is the best place to do that?
Within the blog, in the forums or is it possible to do it directly in the bug tracking tool?
