I have a website hosted on Dreamhost.com & I am facing a wiered problem. All the mails going from the site have “From” address as shore@proteus.dreamhost.com, whereas the header.inc.php file shows admin@mysite.com. I tried contacting Dreamhost support but they are unable to solve the problem. Can anybody advice the solution for this problem?

I am facing a lot of problems, specially for simulataneous connections to mysql database, on my current hosting company. Can anybody suggest a good, stable shared/VPS hosting company with a good database server please? Thank you in advance.

I had dolphin 6 installed. When I upgraded it with the upgrade patch everything seemed good. But when new member tries to register he gets following error.

Database query error

Already registered members can use the site normally. But new member is not able to register…:(

Can anybody tell me why am I getting this error, and how to solve it?

Firstly let me thank you for adding that new item box on index page. Lot better than what I was asking for…:)

Front end:

. Rank: I think the owner shouldn’t be allowed to “rank” himself.

. Comments: I couldn’t understand the purpose of comments. It may be something different than what I can understand. But if they are to just post comments about what you think of profile then I think there shouldn’t be “answer” link to it. Or if it is like a communication then I think only the profile owner should be able to answer the comments. Also when the community grows and you have like 100 friends, it might be difficult to keep a track of comment replies. So I feel the reply should go to the poster’s profile comment box. Something like orkut’s scrapbook.

. Profile pictures: I couldn’t click the profile pictures other than primary from IE6.

Admin section:

. Media: Min length of title for the media file is set to 3 I think. Because even if admin set less than 3 say ‘0′, it will ask minimum 3 letters to the member.

. Media upload: When member tries to upload media file exceeding maximum size, it is not allowed. That is fine, but there is no message displayed to convey to the member that he is exceeding the maximum limit so the file can’t be uploaded. I think a message should get displayed.

. Groups: I couldn’t find a place to limit the size of media files in groups. Also the options like whether members should be allowed to upload media in group or not, etc should be controlled by admin as a group global setting. Like 2 photos per member or 10 photos per group, something like that, so that admin can manage the available disk space better.

. mp3 player: Andrey you had talked about bit-rate setting for mp3 files from admin section. I think you forgot. Please add that.

. Action menu: Some mean to control action menu. I think till the time the “action menu” reflects the settings done from admin panel, the customization will not be complete.

Andrey is this beta taken care of modifying  member’s action menu?:)

I disabled video upload function but in member’s action menu Profile video was getting displayed.

If its not there in today’s beta. Can you tell me the way to modify that menu? Because I am totally stuck because of that. I would appreciate  if you reply this.

Also you had said about mp3 compression from admin panel. But I couldn’t see that. Any news about that…:)

If anyone know about the customization of  action it would be great help to me…

Can anybody please tell me the file name from which I can edit orca footers (copyright and powered by contents)… By changing the language keys doesn’t work for orca pages…:( Language key changes all other pages but not orca pages…

Some of the email services blocks our emails at the time of receiving email verifications, and our system can’t send him an email. But to the new joiner our site displays that:
” Mail has been successfully sent.

You will receive it within a minute.”

New member is lost in that case I feel… And that profile gets listed in the admin panel for admin to activate. Admin is also not aware that the email verification was not successful. Cron job get generated at a later stage. I feel we might lose an important member by that reason.

I also tried to register with a faulty address, that time also same thing happened. It may not be practical to check cron jobs everytime for this reason. Once members come to know that faulty emails will also do then that will increase lot of span users I feel.

The sole purpose of email verification is lost here…!!!

Can we make some arrangement to let user know that we couldn’t send him an email for verification and so please enter some other email address to be able to login? Also list the profile in admin section only after email verification or list it separately saying email not verified.
